Can the plan cover my full visa period?
Plans run for 1, 2 or 3 years. The visa granted may be limited to the dates your certificate covers, so match the term to the visa length you request.
Does it cover me when I travel abroad?
No. Coverage applies only within Colombia, and assistance stops if you return to your country of habitual residence.
Do family members need their own certificate?
Yes. The plans are individual, so each person covered holds a certificate with their own full name.

I'm over 75. Can I still get a plan?
Yes. Applicants are accepted up to age 85; from age 76, two plan levels are available with adjusted rates. Pre-existing conditions are covered up to USD 300 or USD 10,000, depending on the plan.
Can I use Medicare or my home country's public coverage?
The Retirement visa lists health coverage in Colombia or a health policy covering the risks in Resolution 5477. Coverage that does not apply in Colombia does not meet that.
Are pre-existing conditions covered?
Only up to a limit set by each plan. These plans satisfy the visa requirement but are not full private health insurance. Always declare your conditions.

Does my coverage have to match my visa length?
The visa granted may be limited to the dates your certificate covers. Investor visas can run for several years, so a multi-year term usually fits better than a 1-year plan.

No. Each person covered holds their own certificate with their full name as in their passport.
Does a beneficiary visa list its own policy?
It depends on the category. Under Resolution 5477 the principal holder declares responsibility for beneficiaries, including health coverage; we confirm what each case lists before you buy.
Can I add a family member later?
Yes. Each new person gets their own plan; request their quote before they file so the certificate is ready in time.

Can I change the start date after buying?
With the optional cancellation upgrade, the plan conditions allow a change of start date before the plan begins. Without it, choose the start date carefully when you confirm your quote.
What if my visa is denied?
With the optional cancellation upgrade, the conditions allow a refund if the visa is denied and the plan has not been used (request within 30 days). Details are in the Colombia visa health insurance FAQ.
Can I buy a plan if I already live in Colombia?
The plans are designed for foreigners who enter, travel within or stay in Colombia. If Colombia is already your country of habitual residence, ask us before buying so we can confirm eligibility.
