What is the Beneficiary Visa?

The Beneficiary Visa lets the close family of a Colombian visa holder live in Colombia under that same visa. If you hold a Visitor (V), Migrant (M), or Resident (R) visa, your spouse or permanent partner, your children, financially dependent can apply as your beneficiaries — sharing your visa type and its validity.

The key requirement is economic dependency: your beneficiaries rely on you for financial support, which you document with your own income. Their visa is tied to yours . It grants legal stay and family reunification in Colombia, though it does not authorize paid work. We prepare the whole family’s applications as one case, so no one gets left in a separate line.

Why the Beneficiary Visa?

Keep your family together in Colombia. The Beneficiary Visa extends your legal status to the people who depend on you — whatever visa type you hold.

Same Validity as You

Your beneficiaries' visa is tied to yours — same type, same expiry date. The whole family stays in sync, with no separate clock to track.

Your Family Comes Too

Include your spouse or permanent partner, your children until 25 years.. They gain the legal status to live and study in Colombia alongside you.

Built on Your Income

Your beneficiaries don't need their own job offer or investment. Economic dependency on you is the qualifying condition — your income supports the application.

Works With some Visas (V, M or R)

For certain visas in the various categories—visitor, migrant, or resident—your family can apply as beneficiaries: they inherit your category and follow the same process.

Colombian ID (Cédula)

Each approved beneficiary can obtain their Foreign ID Card (Cédula de Extranjería) — the key to banking, healthcare, and everyday life in Colombia.

Settled, Not Just Visiting

With legal status and a cédula, your family connects to local life — health coverage, bank accounts, schools, and long-term housing.

Next step

Not sure who in your family qualifies?

Get a quick pre-check on relationship proof, economic dependency, and apostilled documents—before you file.

You’ll receive clear next steps, not generic advice.

At USP Consultancy, with more than 4 years of experience, we are dedicated to empowering our clients through expert legal, financial, and inmigration consulting.
