What is the Journalist Coverage Visa?

The Colombian Journalist Coverage Visa is designed for foreign media professionals covering specific events or short-term journalistic assignments in the country. It is ideal for reporters, crew members, and correspondents accredited by an international news agency.

Unlike other work visas, this permit does not allow for beneficiaries and limits your stay to a maximum of 180 days (continuous or discontinuous) within a 365-day period. Our team assists in validating your press credentials and the required letter of financial responsibility from your media organization. It authorizes work strictly related to the journalistic activities declared in your application.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I work for Colombian companies with this visa?
No. The Digital Nomad Visa is strictly for providing services to companies or clients domiciled outside of Colombia. If you wish to work for a Colombian entity, you would need a Work Visa (M or V type depending on the contract).
Do I need to be in Colombia to apply?
Not necessarily. You can apply from a Colombian consulate abroad or from within Colombia if you have a valid entry permit (tourist stamp). Our team handles the online submission regardless of your location.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. Beneficiaries (spouse/children) can be included in your application. They will receive a beneficiary visa linked to your main visa. Additional financial proof may be required.
Will I have to pay taxes in Colombia?
This is complex and depends on your stay duration. Generally, if you stay over 183 days in a 365-day period, you become a tax resident. However, Colombia has double taxation treaties with many countries. This is why our accounting team's advice is crucial.
